The bridge between complex genetic codes and the layman language to decode it. Genetic Counsellors work closely with physicians to provide their patients with personalized treatment options. Our genetic counsellors are unique in a way that they not only understand the technology and science behind it but understand the psychological and social impacts of genetic test results. They translate the genetic data to make it comprehensible by the patients and their respective healthcare providers. This enables the patients to understand their complex conditions and make informed decisions for them and their families.
Earlier, genetic counselling was thought to be only for rare disorders and prenatal screening and more recently in the treatment of cancers. But with the advancement in the technologies, the spectrum of medical specialities using genetic counselling has been expanding to include cardiology, psychiatry, neurology and is still growing.
